Yemen : Artillery Shelling Hits Residential Areas in Northern Taiz
Taiz — Heavy artillery fire launched by Houthi militia forces struck residential neighborhoods in northern Taiz on Monday, causing widespread panic among civilians and inflicting severe damage to homes and infrastructure.
Local sources reported that the bombardment targeted densely populated districts, forcing families to flee their houses in search of safety.
Witnesses described the shelling as “intense and indiscriminate,” with explosions echoing across the city and leaving several homes partially destroyed.
Medical teams confirmed that a number of civilians, including women and children, sustained injuries during the attack. Emergency responders rushed victims to nearby hospitals amid ongoing fears of renewed strikes.
Human rights activists condemned the assault, calling it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and urging the international community to pressure the Houthis to halt attacks on civilian areas.
Taiz, Yemen’s third-largest city, has long been a flashpoint in the country’s conflict, with repeated shelling exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and deepening civilian suffering.
