Yemen : Hadramout Parties Urge Calm Amid Escalating Clashes
Hadramout— In the wake of fierce confrontations between government forces and the Hadramout Tribal Alliance, several political parties and local leaders in Hadramout have appealed for restraint, emphasizing the need to prevent the governorate from sliding into a wider conflict.
Political parties in the governorate released statements urging all factions to halt military escalation and engage in dialogue.
They warned that the continuation of hostilities could destabilize Hadramout’s fragile social fabric and ignite unrest across the Red Sea corridor, a region already strained by maritime insecurity and economic pressures.
Local leaders stressed that Hadramout’s stability is vital not only for Yemen but also for the wider region, given its oil production fields and strategic coastal location. They cautioned that unchecked violence could jeopardize livelihoods, disrupt trade, and deepen humanitarian suffering.
Civil society groups echoed these concerns, calling for inclusive negotiations that involve tribal leaders, political parties, and state authorities.
They emphasized that dialogue remains the only viable path to avoid “a dangerous slide into open conflict.”
