The Yemeni government has renewed its accusation of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia of threatening international navigation, by continuing to plant sea mines in the international trade corridor.

Yemeni Defense Minister Mohsen al-Daari said, "The Houthi militia continues to threaten the security of international navigation by planting sea mines that threaten global trade."

During his inspection yesterday, Saturday, the command of the naval forces and the naval base in Aden, Al-Daari stressed the need to raise the military readiness to face challenges and combat all types of smuggling, "including Iranian weapons and narcotics, which must be prevented from reaching the Houthi militia so as not to use them in the continuation of its war on Yemenis and harm." neighboring countries".

The Yemeni Defense Minister indicated the Presidential Council's keenness to rebuild the naval forces in a way that would enable them to protect the Yemeni coasts and secure international navigation.

He also appreciated the efforts of the Saudi-led coalition in securing international navigation and defending common national security.

The Yemeni government has repeatedly warned of the dangerous and unprecedented threat posed by Houthi naval mines to the safety of commercial ships and the security of navigation in the international corridors of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Marine mines planted by the Houthi militia have also killed dozens of fishermen on the Yemeni coast.
