Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak said 'the terrorist threats' by the Houthi militias against civilian oil facilities represent a serious escalation of the conflict.

The negative impacts of such threat could exceed the Yemeni economy to entire region and the international energy supply routes, he said during his meeting with US Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin on Monday.

The meeting focused on the consequences of Houthis' effort to undermine the UN-brokered truce, according to a press release from the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Bin Mubarak said that such terrorist threats and behaviors require a stern and firm reaction by the international community to stop these militias' reckless practices and blackmail to serve the Iranian regime's interest at the expense of the Yemeni peoples' wellbeing.

On his part, Ambassador Fagin reaffirmed that the US continued support to the peace efforts being made by UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg.

He also affirmed the US support to Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, according to the statement.
