Yemen : Unknown gunmen assassinate a former diplomat in Sanaa Governorate

Unknown gunmen assassinated, on Sunday evening, the former Yemeni diplomat, Dirham Noman al-Hakimi, after he was shot in the capital, Sanaa, according to a parliamentary source and local media.
Member of the House of Representatives (Parliament), Ahmed Seif Hashid, said in a tweet via "Twitter", "It has been confirmed that the assassination of the great national figure, Dirham Noman Al-Hakimi, (the former ambassador of Yemen to Ethiopia), in the capital, Sana'a," without further details.
Local media such as "Aden Al-Ghad" news website and "July 17" newspaper reported that unidentified gunmen fired a barrage of live bullets at Al-Hakimi, in Haddah neighborhood in Sana'a city.
Al-Hakimi is one of the most prominent state officials in previous years, as he held several positions, including the head of the free zone in Aden, in the south of the country, and the governor of Shabwa (southeast), before being appointed as the country’s ambassador to Ethiopia (2012-2016).
No party has claimed responsibility for the incident, while no statement has been issued by the Yemeni authorities or the Houthi group that controls the capital, Sanaa, according to the Anadolu Agency.
The capital, Sanaa, under the control of the Houthis since September 2014, witnesses, from time to time, assassinations of political and military figures, usually against unknown persons.
For more than 7 years, Yemen has been witnessing a continuous war between forces loyal to the legitimate government, backed by an Arab military coalition led by the neighboring Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have controlled several governorates, including Sanaa, since September 2014.
