Yemen Secures Semi-Final Spot in Gulf Youth Cup with 2-0 Victory Over Kuwait
Aden – The Yemeni national youth football team has advanced to the semi-finals of the Gulf Youth Cup after a commanding 2-0 win over Kuwait in the final round of Group A matches.
Yemen opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time with a well-placed penalty converted by Abdullah Al-Daqeen, following a controversial foul inside the box. The team doubled its lead in the 68th minute when Adel Abbas found the net with a clinical finish, sealing the victory and energizing the large contingent of Yemeni supporters in the stands.
With this result, Yemen earned six points in the group stage, finishing second behind host nation Saudi Arabia. The win follows an earlier triumph over Qatar and marks a significant milestone for the team, which has shown discipline, tactical maturity, and growing confidence throughout the tournament.
“This qualification reflects the hard work and determination of our players,” said a spokesperson from the Yemeni Football Association. “We are proud to represent Yemen and will continue to fight for the title.”
Yemen will now prepare for a high-stakes semi-final clash, with hopes of reaching the final and securing its first Gulf Youth Cup championship.
