UN Envoy’s Office Convenes Technical Discussions in Amman on Yemen’s Economy, Reform, and Justice
Amman – The Office of the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen has launched a series of technical discussions in Amman this week, bringing together Yemeni experts and stakeholders to address critical issues related to the country’s economy, institutional reform, and justice.
According to a statement released by the UN Envoy’s office, the meetings aim to foster inclusive dialogue among Yemeni parties and civil society representatives, with a focus on laying the groundwork for sustainable peace and equitable governance. Participants are expected to explore mechanisms for economic stabilization, anti-corruption measures, and transitional justice frameworks that reflect the aspirations of all Yemenis.
“These technical consultations are part of our broader efforts to support a Yemeni-led political process,” said a spokesperson for the UN Special Envoy. “Economic recovery, institutional reform, and justice are pillars of any durable peace, and we are committed to facilitating constructive engagement on these fronts.”
The discussions in Amman follow recent diplomatic momentum surrounding the UN roadmap for peace in Yemen, which includes commitments to a nationwide ceasefire, political negotiations, and confidence-building measures. The Envoy’s office emphasized that the technical track complements political efforts by addressing the structural challenges that have fueled the conflict and undermined public trust.
The meetings are expected to continue over several days, with outcomes feeding into future rounds of dialogue and informing the UN’s engagement with Yemeni parties.
