Yemen Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire, Calls for Lasting Peace and Humanitarian Relief

Aden — The Government of Yemen has issued a statement welcoming the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian factions in Gaza, describing it as a “positive step toward ending the cycle of violence and protecting civilian lives.”
In a press release circulated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yemen reaffirmed its solidarity with the Palestinian people and called on the international community to ensure that the ceasefire is upheld and followed by meaningful efforts to address the root causes of the conflict.
“The Republic of Yemen welcomes the ceasefire in Gaza and urges all parties to commit to peace, protect civilians, and facilitate urgent humanitarian access,” the statement read. It also emphasized the importance of international legal frameworks and UN resolutions in achieving a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council reiterated its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and condemned the targeting of civilian infrastructure and medical facilities during the recent escalation.
The ceasefire, brokered by regional and international mediators, comes after weeks of intense fighting that left hundreds dead and thousands displaced. Humanitarian agencies have warned of a deepening crisis in Gaza, where access to food, water, and medical supplies remains severely limited.
Yemen, itself grappling with a prolonged conflict and humanitarian emergency, has consistently voiced support for Palestinian rights in regional and international forums. The government’s statement reflects a broader Arab consensus calling for de-escalation and renewed diplomatic engagement.
