Cholera in Yemen : Death toll rises to 5 cases, with more than 1,700 suspected cases in Taiz

Taiz - health authorities in Taiz, Yemen, have announced that the cholera death toll has risen to 5 cases, while the number of suspected cases has exceeded 1,700 since the beginning of this year.
Taysir Al-Sam’ae, media officer at the Ministry of Health office in the governorate, confirmed that 706 cases have been laboratory-confirmed so far. Officials have warned of the continued spread of the disease due to deteriorating health conditions in the country.
Al-Sam’ae stated that the widespread outbreak of diseases in Taiz is caused by a lack of funding in the healthcare sector, hindering efforts to control cholera, dengue fever, and measles. The governorate has also reported 1,898 cases of dengue fever and 1,171 suspected measles cases, including 8 deaths.
Health authorities have called for urgent intervention from donor organizations to provide essential support for the healthcare sector. They warned that the ongoing rainy season could further accelerate the spread of infectious diseases across the region.
