Yemeni Government Forces Repel Houthi Assault on Eastern Al-Jawf Front
Al-Jawf – Yemeni government forces successfully repelled a Houthi attack on military positions in the eastern front of Al-Jawf Governorate late Monday, according to military sources.
The confrontation erupted when Houthi fighters launched an offensive targeting army units stationed in the Jawas sector, a strategic area recently fortified by the Sixth Military Region to curb smuggling and militant infiltration. Fierce clashes ensued, involving medium and heavy weaponry, and continued for several hours into the night.
Military officials confirmed that government troops managed to thwart the assault, inflicting significant human and material losses on the attacking forces. The Houthis were ultimately forced to retreat under intense firepower.
The incident marks a renewed escalation in hostilities along the eastern desert corridor of Al-Jawf, a region critical to supply routes and border security. It also underscores the fragile state of the ceasefire and the persistent threat posed by Houthi incursions despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to revive peace talks.
No casualties have been officially reported by the government side, and the situation remains tense as forces remain on high alert for potential follow-up attacks.
