Ibb -- Authorities in Yemen’s Ibb province have discovered the body of a stadium security guard who had been missing for four days, in a case now under criminal investigation.

According to local sources, the guard was found dead inside the stadium’s security room after workers involved in a turf installation project at the Ibb Sports Stadium noticed a foul odor emanating from the building. 

Upon entering the room, they discovered the decomposing body and immediately alerted the authorities.

The victim, who had served as a night guard at the facility, was last seen on duty several days earlier. His disappearance had raised concern among colleagues and family members, but no trace of him was found until the workers’ grim discovery.

Preliminary reports suggest signs of foul play, though officials have not released details regarding the cause of death. The body was transferred to a local hospital for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident has sparked alarm in the local community, with residents and civil society groups calling for a transparent inquiry and improved security measures at public facilities. The stadium, a key sports venue in the region, has since been closed temporarily pending further investigation.

Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward, as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the guard’s death and whether it is linked to broader security concerns in the area.
