UNHCR Seeks $194 Million to Support Displaced and Refugees in Yemen
Sana’a – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced an urgent appeal for nearly $194 million to meet humanitarian needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees in Yemen during the coming year.
According to UNHCR, the funding is essential to sustain life‑saving assistance, including shelter, protection services, and basic relief items for millions affected by ongoing conflict and economic collapse.
The agency emphasized that Yemen remains one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, with more than four million people displaced and thousands of refugees requiring continued support.
UNHCR officials warned that without adequate resources, critical programs such as cash assistance, health services, and protection for vulnerable groups including women and children will face severe cuts. The appeal underscores the urgent need for international solidarity to prevent further deterioration of living conditions across the country.
