The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY) and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation co-organized The Women, Peace, and Security Agenda in Yemen Forum in Madrid from April 23 to 26.
The Forum brought Yemeni women peace advocates together with grassroots peacemakers, experts in gender and mediation, and representatives from non-governmental organizations and think tanks from around the world.
The event was attended by José Manuel Albares, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sarhad Fatah, OSESGY’s Deputy Head of Mission.
The Forum provided space for the exchange of experiences, highlighted the importance of including women in peace processes, and explored ways to address the existing barriers impeding women’s meaningful participation.
