UAE, German FMs vow to strengthen cooperation

Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock on Monday discussed the potential for strengthening bilateral cooperation in all areas, including economy, trade and renewable energy.
In a phone conversation, the two officials reviewed cooperation in environmental conservation and climate action, as well as the UAE's preparations to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is scheduled to begin in Dubai in late November, UAE's official news agency WAM reported.
Both sides discussed the UAE's role in stepping up international efforts to combat the effects of climate change, the report added.
The two officials also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern, it noted.
During the conversation, the UAE's top diplomat underscored the close ties between the UAE and Germany, and the willingness of both countries to seize opportunities to strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership, it added.
