In a televised address today, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of Yemen's Ansarullah movement, delivered a speech that underscored the group's stance on ongoing regional conflicts. His remarks shed light on the escalating tensions involving Israel, the United States, and Yemen's role in the broader geopolitical landscape.
Al-Houthi emphasized the group's commitment to targeting American naval vessels, particularly the USS Truman and its escort ships. He claimed that Ansarullah forces have conducted 33 operations against these targets, utilizing ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones.
The leader highlighted the group's success in downing 19 American MQ-9 drones since March 25, showcasing their evolving capabilities in aerial combat.
Al-Houthi reiterated the group's support for Palestine, condemning Israeli actions in Gaza and the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque. He framed the group's military actions as part of a broader resistance against perceived aggression by Israel and its allies1.
The speech included sharp criticism of American airstrikes in Yemen, which he described as unjustified aggression. He accused the US of committing crimes against Yemeni civilians and vowed continued resistance.
