Germany Voices Concern Over Escalating Developments in Southern Yemen
Berlin – Germany has expressed deep concern over the recent escalation in southern Yemen, warning that the situation poses serious risks to regional stability and humanitarian conditions.
In a statement issued Tuesday, German officials highlighted the latest unrest at Mukalla Port in Hadramout, where Saudi Arabia announced it had carried out a limited military operation targeting weapons and combat vehicles.
The incident has intensified tensions among coalition partners and local factions.
Germany also noted the United Arab Emirates’ decision to withdraw its remaining military forces from Yemen, a move announced earlier this week by the UAE Ministry of Defense.
The withdrawal marks the conclusion of the UAE’s counterterrorism presence, which had continued after its broader military disengagement in 2019.
Berlin emphasized the importance of restraint and renewed calls for dialogue, urging all parties to avoid further escalation and to prioritize political solutions.
German officials stressed that the international community must remain engaged to prevent the crisis from deepening and to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in Yemen.
