Over 200 Casualties Reported in Traffic Accidents Across Gov’t-Held Areas in Yemen
Aden — More than 200 people were killed or injured in traffic accidents across areas under the control of Yemen’s internationally recognized government during the first half of December, according to security sources.
The Security Media Center of the Ministry of Interior said Tuesday that 225 victims were recorded in 163 traffic incidents between December 1 and 15, 2025. The report noted that 23 people lost their lives, while 202 others sustained injuries of varying severity, including 99 classified as “serious.”
Material losses from the accidents were estimated at 61 million Yemeni rials, based on official traffic reports compiled by the General Directorate of Command and Control in the Traffic Police.
The Center added that the accidents included 88 vehicle collisions, 54 pedestrian run-overs, 22 vehicle overturns, and four other incidents attributed to miscellaneous causes.
Officials highlighted the figures as part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about road safety and reduce the mounting toll of traffic-related casualties in Yemen.
