Greece pledges €100,000 to support Yemen’s recovery

Greece has pledged €100,000 to aid Yemen’s recovery during a high-level meeting on Monday that centered on international support for Yemen’s government and its priorities for the 2025-2026 period.
Co-hosted by Yemen and the United Kingdom, the meeting saw the participation of Greece’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Evangelos Sekeris, who reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting Yemen and its citizens amid the challenges of a decade-long conflict.
“Greece provides full political support to the government of Yemen, emphasizing the importance of unity within the framework of the Presidential Leadership Council to promote security and stability for all citizens, while respecting Yemen’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.
“As a maritime nation, we will continue to play a leading role in promoting respect for maritime security and freedom of navigation,” he added, referring to Greece’s participation in the EU naval operation Aspides in the Red Sea.
